|Summary of Duties and Responsibilities||
The Department of Computer Science at Iowa State University seeks outstanding applicants for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring and engaging undergraduates, as well as, prospective students, developing and sustaining a strong, externally funded research program, publishing in top tier venues, developing collaborative research, mentoring graduate students, and enhancing Iowa State University’s existing strengths through professional and institutional service.

|Department/Program & College Description||
The Computer Science department resides in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the largest college at Iowa State University. The department currently consists of 27 full-time tenured/tenure-track faculty, four senior lecturers, and two lecturers. We offer B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and a B.S. in Software Engineering (jointly administered with the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering). We are also one of the founding departments for the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. We are active in interdepartmental graduate programs in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Human-Computer Interactions, and Information Assurance. We have many interdisciplinary research collaborations, especially with faculty in the bio-sciences, mathematical sciences, and engineering. The Computer Science department has 609 B.S. students, 94 M.S. students, and 95 Ph.D. students. Almost all Ph.D. students are supported by research or teaching assistantships. We have strong research and educational programs in Algorithms and Complexity, Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Databases, Data Mining, Information Assurance, Programming Languages, Molecular Programming, Multimedia Systems, Networks, Operating Systems, Robotics, and Software Engineering. Our department has over $16 million in active research grants. With the above interdisciplinary activities included, we contribute to active research and training grants totaling approximately $25 million.
