|Summary of Duties and Responsibilities||
The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Iowa State University invites applications for a faculty position as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the areas of engineering statistics and data analytics for high-dimensional and/or data-rich problems. Candidates will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, establish and sustain a strong research program in their area of expertise, act as adviser to graduate students and undergraduate student research, collaborate across the department and college and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession.
The successful applicant will participate in all aspects of the department’s mission, including developing a strong externally funded research program, teaching and supervising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participating in service to the university. |Required Education and Experience||
An earned Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field by the employment start date.
Strong theoretical training in statistics
Demonstrated ability to develop sound new statistical methodology for application in engineering problems
Exposure to engineering research or operations problems
Candidates at the level of Assistant Professor must demonstrate ability or potential for funded research and for excellence in teaching in engineering statistics and data analytics.
Candidates at the level of Associate or Full Professor, in addition to the above, must demonstrate ability for funded research and for excellence in teaching in engineering statistics and data analytics commensurate with qualifications for the rank at Iowa State University.

Practical experience in some area of engineering statistics and/or (big) data analytics
|Department/Program & College Description||
The IMSE department has a history of excellence in classical engineering statistics (including reliability, experimental design and analysis, statistical metrology, and process control) and in big data analytics. It has collaborations in these areas across the Engineering College and University. The College of Engineering comprises 8 departments with 250+ faculty members and annual research expenditures exceeding $88 million.
