Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University seeks experienced professionals to teach Public Relations, Advertising and Journalism courses. Lecturers teach undergraduate students in small group and large lecture formats. The skills courses are taught in computer labs with 18-20 Mac computers.

Teaching needs are for courses such as Reporting and Writing for Broadcast Media, Digital Publishing with the Adobe Suite, Advertising Principles, Research and Strategic Planning for Advertising and Public Relations, Account Management, Campaigns (Ad or PR), Public Relations Techniques and related courses. Additional teaching needs include journalistic writing classes.

The adherence to programmatic goals and curriculum objectives is required, as the school is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC).

Required Education and Experience

Master’s degree in related field;

Two years of professional experience in journalism, public relations, advertising or related field.

Preferred Education and Experience

- Ph.D. in related field;
- Demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education;
- Demonstrated professional experience in appropriate field;
- Advising or mentoring experience;
- Demonstrated computer proficiency as applicable to individual course instruction

The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication has a dynamic ACEJMC-accredited undergraduate program and a strong Master’s program. Additional Information

The Guaranteed Consideration Date has been extended.

The Lecturer appointment could range from 1/4 to 7/8 time depending on availability, experiences, and departmental needs, with possibility of contract renewal. A quarter-time position is equal to one course section per semester. Fall 2017 contracts begin August 16, 2017 with classes starting August 24.
