Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies seeks to fill a trainee position as Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work on projects funded by the Spencer Foundation, National Science Foundation, and Actionable Intelligence for Social Policy focused on policy-relevant research in the areas of early childhood, family poverty, child welfare, and school readiness. The successful candidate will join a productive team of investigators led by Dr. Heather Rouse and including co-investigators Ji Young Choi, Daniel Russell, and Cassandra Dorius. This specific team of investigators specializes in working with large, national datasets as well as state administrative datasets to understand early risk and protective experiences in home and neighborhood contexts, child and family involvement with public service systems such as health or child welfare, and the relations between these experiences and wellbeing outcomes for young children and their parents. The Postdoctoral position will primarily involve advanced statistical programming (data management and analytic modeling) and writing journal manuscripts. Additional responsibilities will include the preparation of conference presentations, grant proposals, and project management.

Required Education and Experience

PhD in psychology, human development and family studies, educational policy, sociology, or a related field;
Advanced proficiency in data management and analytics using Stata;
A strong record of analytic writing in the areas of early childhood, education, or family studies including evidence of publication.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience with the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study-Birth Cohort;
Data management and integration with public administrative datasets;
Advanced quantitative analysis including profile analysis (latent class), propensity score analysis, factor analysis and multilevel modeling.
