Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, invites applications for four tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in computer and software engineering. Appointments will be considered at all experience levels.

Responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate education, mentoring and engaging undergraduate, as well as prospective students, developing and sustaining externally-funded research, graduate student supervision and mentoring and professional and institutional service.

The successful candidate will sustain his/her own research program and complement the current research and educational efforts in the ECpE department through interdisciplinary collaboration. S/He will teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise both graduate and undergraduate students, generate a scholarly publication record and participate in technical committees and outreach activities. Candidates should have strong communication skills, share our commitment to achieving excellence through diversity and inclusion and contribute to the mission of the ECpE department.

Exceptional candidates with commensurate experience and a proven track record will be considered for consideration at Associate or Full Professor levels.

Required Education and Experience

An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field on or before the hire date.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated ability or potential to
– develop a vibrant and high impact externally funded research program;
– excel in the classroom teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
– supervise research of undergraduate and graduate students; and
– engage in professional and institutional service and leadership.

Associate and Full Professor candidates will, in addition to the above, demonstrate an excellent record of funded research and internationally recognized scholarship commensurate with such appointments.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience working with and/or teaching diverse groups and/or diverse students.

Demonstrated ability to enhance existing strategic research areas including 1) computing and networking systems, 2) cybersecurity, and 3) software systems.

Experience working with research teams on projects involving the development of large and complex hardware and software systems.
