Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University is seeking applications for a Facilities Mechanic III who will, under general supervision, perform skilled work in mechanical, HVAC and plumbing trades on campus buildings and systems. The duties of this position require the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds routinely, using proper lifting techniques, and be able to fit for respirator as required. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a variety of locations and environments including confined spaces, at heights, and with exposure to temperature extremes, the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and the ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Required Qualifications

1. Must possess knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment; and 2. Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.

Special Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications

-Commercial experience with plumbing and piping systems

-Experience with pumps and exhaust fans

-Experience with building mechanical systems
