Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

ISU Dining is seeking qualified candidates for a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing ISU Dining’s food safety and quality assurance management program, including quality control, while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. This position also plays a key role for food safety, with responsibility for document control, conducting internal compliant audits, and ensuring proper aesthetics of ISU Dining products are maintained. This position will establish processes and ensure adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and product quality standards. The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager will report directly to the Assistant Director of Food Stores & Vending.

ISU Dining employees about 250 full-time staff and approximately 1,500 students. Full time employees are eligible for a generous benefit package that includes pension options and excellent medical plan options.

The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of supply chain management, be knowledgeable of food safety and sanitation procedures, and have the ability to ensure compliance of food safety and worker safety practices.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 8 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.

Degree in Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management; Food & Nutrition; Food Science, or related Agriculture, Science, or Business.

Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal laws/policies regarding food safety and food quality assurance.

Experience inspecting and conducting internal workplace audits for food service compliance and quality.

Experience establishing processes to adhere with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMT) & Safe Quality Food (SQF) Standards.

Experience training food service staff on new information or procedures.
