Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Center for Crops Utilization Research (CCUR) is currently seeing applicants for an Administrative Specialist II position. This position is responsible for overall support for the CCUR and the BioCentury Research Farm (BCRF). CCUR is a multidisciplinary research, development, and technology transfer program in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University and is committed to increasing the utilization of corn, soybeans, and other crops and creating new agricultural enterprises by developing advanced technologies and high-value products.

The Administrative Specialist II position will assist with research and outreach programs in cooperative business development and promote CCUR and its affiliated projects. This position will assist the director, program manager, BCRF manager, and other CCUR employees in their activities that involve commodity groups, industrial clients, and affiliated faculty. Duties include administration, procurement; accounting processes; hourly payroll, tracking expenses; coordination of various meetings and workshops; processing fee-for-service billings; telecommunication coordination; grant coordination assistance; key control; travel arrangements; outreach and promotion; and assistance with tours.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work in a team setting as well as independently, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. In addition, the ideal candidate is a problem solver and successful in promoting a professional office atmosphere.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
