The 316,713 square foot multipurpose facility is the center for student life, co-curricular activities, and serves as a meeting place for the campus and the local community. The MU opened in 1928, and since then, 11 additions have been made to all sides of the original structure to meet student needs. Operations include a dining center, 600-stall parking ramp, the Student Activities Center, a bowling center, an art studio, a live music venue, and 27 meeting and event spaces. The MU facility operates 24 hours per day with multiple university units that provide service to over 2 million users annually.

The Technology Manager provides leadership for planning, design, installation, and maintenance of technology in support of MU events and programs. The individual oversees the integrity of all technology within the facilities including, but not limited to, multimedia equipment, audio systems and lighting equipment, staff workstations, networking systems, projectors, camera and webcasting equipment. Other responsibilities include supervision of student staff and management of service contracts while maintaining written documentation for all work. The Manager consults with clients and entities such as the Memorial Union Event Management Office, The Maintenance Shop (in-house entertainment venue) and the University Information Technology (IT) department. Collaboration is critical to ensure successful implementation of technology for programs and events. The incumbent will safely execute events ensuring team and customer safety. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for communication with student organizations or other customers to ensure tech needs are met regarding use of the equipment and troubleshooting when issues arise.

The successful candidate will possess diplomacy and communication skills in order to sensitively instruct patrons in the use of technology for their events, programs, presentations and workshops; ability to work during non-traditional hours in order to ensure excellence and continuity of service for the 24/7 operation of the MU; ability to quickly evaluate complex situations and develop innovative solutions; and ability to learn new technologies and apply them to improving programs, facilities, and services.

In order to provide top quality programs and services, the Memorial Union hires only the best service-oriented, team-focused, and solution-focused individuals.
