Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Iowa State University’s Student Counseling Service (SCS) seeks Clinical Therapist candidates to provide direct client care to a dynamic and diverse student population. This position provides psychological services to assist students in attaining their educational, academic, and personal wellness goals. These services include individual assessment and counseling; hospitalization follow-up and service determinations; case management; crisis service system support; group counseling; and psycho-educational and outreach programming to students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents/families. Candidates will also be expected to work closely with the varying level of student trainees in the counseling center.

The successful candidate will be innovative and creative; function as a team player; and be able to assess, manage, and ensure high quality mental health counseling.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 8 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.

Supplemental Required Education and Experience

Masters in Social Work (clinical focus), Counseling (clinical focus), or Marriage and Family Therapy with a clinical focus.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience providing clinical counseling services in a University setting, or with a young adult population;

Experience working with varying levels of clinical trainees;

Experience working with a diverse client population
