In This Role, You Will…

• Be responsible for oversight of the Foundation’s budget and disbursement function including unrestricted expenditures for operations, restricted expenditures and transfers for university use of private gift funds, and budget preparation and monitoring.
• Be responsible for internal and external financial reporting, independent audit coordination, and legal and regulatory compliance of various federal and state tax filings.
• Additional work includes managing daily general ledger activity, monitoring internal controls, administering the Foundation’s corporate insurance program and other special projects as needed.
• Work independently and collaboratively with all levels of staff.
• Communicate in a variety of ways for a variety of purposes. You will write correspondence and provide briefings on various projects and initiatives.

Required Education and Experience

To Be Successful, You Will Need…

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required along with a minimum of four years professional experience. CPA or MBA required. Prefer experience in auditing or nonprofit accounting.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiatives.
• Savvy relationship-building skills and be an excellent communicator. Ability to communicate detailed financial information in terms that can be understood by persons unfamiliar with financial and legal complexities.
• Excellent analytical skills; well-developed decision making, problem-solving and research skills.
• Strong team orientation, a dedicated work ethic and a positive and professional attitude.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite of applications and the ability to learn in-house computer systems.
• Creativity, patience, a sense of humor and a belief in our organizational mission of: Aligning donor passion and generosity to advance Iowa State University’s land grant ideals.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience in auditing or nonprofit accounting is preferred.
