Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

CIRAS (Center for Industrial Research and Service), is seeking qualified candidates for a Project Manager. The Project Manager will be responsible to developing, leading, and implementing programs with Iowa manufacturers in one of the following areas of specialty:
• Manufacturing Technology Expert
• Business Growth Expert

This position is responsible for developing, leading, and implementing programs with Iowa manufacturers in area of specialty as part of CIRAS’ mission to improve industry in Iowa. CIRAS provides companies access to technical services and resources that enhance growth, improve productivity, and expand capacity of Iowa manufacturers through a variety of state and federal programs.
The Project Manager (PM) works collaboratively with CIRAS Account Managers, Projects Managers and other experts to assess company needs and then deliver educational services tailored to the needs of the client. The PM provides statewide and national expertise in their area of specialty. They then provide coaching and follow-up to ensure change is embedded within company practices.
A successful Manufacturing Technology Expert will have experience working in a manufacturing plant applying technology such as automation, controls and other tools to improve the production process.
A successful Business Growth Expert will have experience leading strategic growth of a manufacturing organization, including market analysis, customer identification, and sales execution.
The successful candidate for this position will possess demonstrated expertise in one of the above specialties. Critical skills include project management; excellent communication skills (both verbal and written); interpersonal skills to develop trust with manufacturing leaders; exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; advanced knowledge in expertise-related business software tools; and strong time management skills.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 3 years of related experience; OR a Ph.D. or other professional degree and related experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in related fields(engineering, technology, business, management, finance, or marketing) and ten years of related experience OR Master’s degree in a relateted field and five years related experience OR a PhD in a related field with related experience.
• Experience assessing, developing, and implementing change within manufactuing businesses
• Experience with strategic planning and problem solving.
• Experience leading, influencing and motivating diverse groups to meet objectives.
• Experience developing and presenting curriculum.
• A demonstrated record of high performance in the manufacturing sector.

Location (if other than Ames) Ames is preferred, other locations in Iowa may be acceptable
