Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Grants Hub at Iowa State University is currently seeking applications for a Pre-Award Manager. This position will lead the Grants Hub’s pre-award services that are offered to researchers campus-wide. This position will be responsible for all aspects of budget development, proposal consultations, proposal coordination, and proposal submission. Duties include budget and justification preparation, reading and interpreting the Request for Proposals (RFP), preparing RFP checklists, initiating and routing GoldSheets, gathering data and preparing all required forms for submission, and answering proposal related questions.

This position will manage the pre-award service requests, assign service requests to other Grants Hub staff as needed, develop pre-award resources for researchers and staff, and serve as a subject matter expert for campus. In addition, this position will be integral to the development of Grants Hub pre-award processes, successfully training other pre-award staff, and collaborate on the creation and maintenance of the Grants Hub office procedures manual.

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of federal, state and private funding agencies, regulations and issues; possess strong leadership and team-development skills; and the ability to function in a changing environment. Excellent communication skills and the demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks, respond to immediate demands, and organize and prioritize a fluctuating workload are also essential to be successful in this position.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 8 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
